This OPTIONAL course is an advanced course that addresses some of the important contemporary themes on gendered labour and migration in a globalised world. Course units include:Major debates and concepts related to women's work and migration; Globalisation and the new international division of labour; From indentured labour to migration across borders: a historical overview; The mismatch between the flight of capital and labour in the North and South; Nimble fingers and other fables: revisited; Relationship of labour, capital and natural resources: Bhopal, Jadugoda, and other stories; Sexual and reproductive labour in a global world: an exploration in intersectionality; Policies and regulatory framework for global deployment of work.
