The course presents the multifaceted aspects of health and development. It presents the links between social, economic, political and environmental factors and the health of a population. Further health-care systems are examined in the context of social policy and health care needs. The effects of different levels of health care interventions, changing roles and responsibilities of government, the voluntary sector and the proprietary sector are assessed in relation to access and utilization of health care. Cultural and marginalization factors are considered in relation to differential risks and health care services.
